Insurance Card Collection
Use a File question type, add “Image” to the Valid File Types. Pick Insurance Card Front or Insurance Card Back to update the patient’s primary insurance upon form submission. To capture Front and Back, create Two separate File questions.
Specifying a Billing (RCM) Provider
There are some differences between Canvas and Candid that the Insurance question type can accommodate. For example, Candid does not require date of birth to be set for the policy owner, whereas Canvas does. You can specify the provider when editing a form:
Suggested Insurers
To suggest specific insurers (those who are in-network or with known payer ids), you must create a Database with two Text fields:
- id (this needs to be lower case for Candid/Canvas import)
- For Candid, the payer ID
- For Canvas, the Organization ID
- name (this needs to be lower case for Candid/Canvas import)
- What is displayed in the form for this Insurer selection
Then, when editing the Insurance question type in a form, you can select this as a database to pre-populate the Insurer field.
Canvas
To create a Coverage in Canvas, the insurer must be defined in Canvas. If you have Canvas integrated, you can sync select insurers to Tellescope. To do so, navigate to your Tellescope Database:
Click “Import” in the top right, select Canvas. Then, you can search for, select, and add Insurers from Canvas to Tellescope and have them auto-populate in your forms.
No Billing Provider
- If you don't pick either Canvas or Candid as a Billing Provider, the information collected will still populate the Insurance Question types but the data will not be shared with one our integrated Billing Solutions
Require Selection From Database
- When selected, prevents patients from typing in coverage option that isn't listed in the drop-dop
Reviewing Insurance Details
When a patient has insurance details saved, you will see “View Insurance” in the top right of their profile. Clicking this allows you to review and update existing insurance information. For RCM providers that support eligibility checks, this screen will also let you run an eligibility check.
