Connecting Photon Health to Tellescope allows you to prescribe medications to patients, and sync the results back into their Tellescope profile
‼️ Important Notes
- We expect that you do not create any patients directly in Photon. Patients which are created in Tellescope will be automatically added to Photon before prescribing a medication for the first time.
- Patients in Tellescope must have valid entries for the following attributes to be pushed successfully to Photon
- First Name
- Last Name
- Phone Number
- Gender
- Date of Birth
Connecting Photon to Tellescope
Only 1 admin user in Photon and Tellescope is needed to make this connection
Photon Settings
In the Photon Settings page, you will need the following information
💡 These should be M2M tokens
- Organization ID
- Client ID
- Client Secret
In the Integrations page of Tellescope, click Photon Health and enter these details
Webhooks
Also in Photon’s settings, you will need to set up a New Webhook. As the Payload URL, please enter https://api.tellescope.com/v1/webhooks/photon
For the Secret, use the same Client Secret value from the prior step
Make sure to check Send me all events, so that Tellescope can be updated when changes are made in Photon
Using Photon in Tellescope
Now that Photon is connected, when viewing a patient’s medication list in Tellescope, you can click “Prescribe”. This will automatically create a Patient in Photon (if it does not already exist) and then open a window which will allow you to prescribe and order medications. The Prescribe button will only be available if the patient has all of the required fields for Photon (see Important Notes for more details)
Handling Order Status Updates
With Photon webhooks set up, you can use our Order Status Equals trigger to handle different Statuses from Photon, including SHIPPED
If you want to communicate a shipment confirming and tracking info to a contact in Tellescope, you can use the above trigger condition to add the patient to a Tellescope Journey. The first step in the Journey should be to send an SMS or Email. In that SMS or Email template, you can include {{order.tracking}} in the message to insert the tracking number we get from Photon.
